Owned by the superlative web hosting company, BlueHost, the hosting company HostMonster has been in business for over a decade and since its inception in 1996 has added more than 100,000 domains to its name. Since HostMonster is a company that comes under the aegis of BlueHost, the rule that the smaller web hosting company resembles the larger company in terms of products and service holds true. Therefore there is only a single web hosting package offered by HostMonster and the scheme of this company is almost identical to the one offered by BlueHost with minor exceptions like the total number of databases and email accounts available for the users. If you have used BlueHost and is now looking at HostMonster, you will find that the features and add-ons offered by the two web hosting companies are also virtually similar and the menu that gives you the list of features that can be used is arranged in the same sequence in the two websites.

The control panel at HostMonstser is also a near-replica of that from BlueHost. However the HostMonster control panel looks different and does not have the traditional X theme of cPanel although the features are unchanged. The availability of the services such as email accounts, sub-domains and databases and their functionality are fine but does not exceed expectation. Compared to BlueHost however the number of these services are lesser. The pricing package of HostMonster would suit you and you can either take the minimum 3 month signup plan or use it annually or two-yearly. The minimum period usage charges you $7.95 monthly plus a cost of $30 for the setup. For annual membership at HostMonster, the monthly charge remains unchanged while you get a bandwidth of 3000GB and free space of 300GB. If however you choose to stay for two years, you can avail a discounted monthly charge of $5.95 for which you have to pay the whole amount in advance.

Signing up with HostMonster gives you a host of incentive services like a sitebuilder, $50 worth of free ad credits from Yahoo and also a free domain if you have paid for one or two years in advance. However moving your site entails extra cost if you use HostMonster web hosting, which feature has been criticised by some of the patrons.

Customer care service at HostMonster is similar to BlueHost and if you have used both companies, you will know that the music played while holding the line is same in both. The support staff will get back to you once you have submitted your enquiry/complaint ticket using the web-based interface of the company that has several dedicated departments to assist you. With friendly, cooperative support staff HostMonster however has a delaying procedure for booking your enquiry/complaint as you have to register your name with the company’s ticket system. A disadvantage that HostMontser support system has is that the staff efficiency is not uniform and sometimes there are problems in online use of customer care and you have to make a call to get service done.

Some other problems also occur when you use HostMonster and it I best to know the downside of your bargain as much as you should be aware of all its advantages. It has been reported that the FTP connections are not always reliable and some HostMosnter patrons have complained of having difficulty in running scripts on the servers. However, these problems may be random as there are innumerable satisfied customers who have been using HostMonster without snags for whom the web hosting company is another name for huge free space and high bandwidth plus some great service.
